Well looks like my week of luck has run out. I received
a text today from the AFS volunteer saying that I am moving either tomorrow or Thursday
to another home. He said he will ask my family one more time but he thinks the
answer is a solid no. when I saw the text of that, I made up that I had a bad headache
and came back to the house because I did not want to cry in front of my
classmates. I really thought that I was going to get this whole trip into
perfect motion and convince this family that they wanted another student but it
just didn’t happen which makes me really sad. Also, the realization that I will
get to spend my eighteenth birthday with complete strangers is not that warming
of a feeling either. Though I will walk into my other new family positive
and making things work it’s just really hard; it takes astounding amounts of energy
to get settled, understand a household and also the people in it. And the
winner I am I get to do it for the fourth time…yay…
On a brighter note though, I have had quite a
fun and interesting week with this family. On Sunday I went to their chicken farm. It is
one of those places where they have the huge lots and lined feeders with
thousands of chickens in a little space. Truly reminded me how much I miss
being vegetarian. But, my family even said, ¨Oh we don’t eat those chickens we
eat those (as they pointed to the chickens freely running around the land)
because the chickens in the pins are not good to eat at all they just make us
money.¨ it was quite amusing to see the people who grow the food will not eat
it.

crazy fruit tree!! you eat them by biting them then swallowing the seeds whole instandly and spiting out the skin however if you eat too many you will become ill with a fever and a strike of the #2 according to my family. |
